To our community,
Last week, 350.org publicly announced a temporary suspension of programming in the US. This means significant layoffs and an abrupt end to decade-long partnerships. 350.org is an international organization, and the decision to cut programming was based on budget shortfall.
We’re shocked and disappointed with this decision. We’re in solidarity with the affected US staff.
350 Seattle is a financially and legally independent affiliate of 350.org. While in the past we have partnered with 350.org on numerous campaigns, our organizational priorities are unaffected by this decision. 350 Seattle is committed to addressing the root causes of the climate crisis and working for climate justice. We organize to resist fossil fuels, we build momentum for healthy alternatives and fostering resilient, just, and welcoming communities.
With an authoritarian climate denier in the White House, we have doubled down on building grassroots power locally, in Seattle and statewide. We will continue to support national and international work through our strong alliances with the 100s of other 350.org affiliates, including the 350 Network Council.
We wish the best for our friends at 350.org.
