With school getting out and the sun shining, we are feeling the good weather vibes! Our newsletter team is on summer break this month and we’ll be back in July.
In the meantime, we hope you’ll join our fabulous Artful Activism team in the Solstice Parade. Read on to learn about our Electrify Seattle float, flash mob, art builds and more!
350 Seattle’s climate justice-themed float is a Solstice tradition — and this year, we’re so excited to be highlighting the Electrify Seattle campaign. We’ll be inviting the crowd to help move Seattle towards our healthy climate future by launching lightning bolts at the gas-powered appliance props on our float, upgrading them for clean energy and greening Seattle’s space needle as we go. When we’ve fully greened the space needle, our ensemble will dance the Electric Boogie: complete with fun costumes, props and song!
SOLSTICE ART BUILDS TODAY & TOMORROW
Not one, but two art builds this weekend! Help finish painting, prop-making and printing for the Solstice Parade. Art builds are fun for people of all ages, and a great way to meet other folks in the 350 Seattle community.
No skills needed, we’ll teach you as you go. Bring water, a mask and clothes to get messy.

JOIN US IN THE FREMONT SOLSTICE PARADE
We are looking for 50 (or more!) people who want to help make our float fun and interactive by inviting the audience to join the Electric Boogie flash mob, giving out hand stamps, high-fiving with our lightning bolt signs, and animating our participatory parachute. Wear and be part of the theater with a giant puppet, solar panel, heat pump, building, cape, or lightning bolt, or carry a windmill or beautiful batik flag to enliven the ensemble.
No skills required, and we welcome folks of all ages!
