MOVEMENT SUPPORT: STORY CIRCLE
Story Circles are a community-building space for listening, learning, and sharing stories. Storytelling is a powerful act that can help us process the world around us and shift culture.
Our mission is to center supportive and accessible creative practices, help people connect with their climate stories and creative agency, examine and challenge the dominant stories in our culture, and imagine the future we’ll build together.
We are all storytellers; stories live through us, and can limit or liberate us. We come together to honor those stories and the value of creativity outside of its commodification.
Upcoming Happenings
- 350 Seattle’s Story Circle team is making our second zine, to be published in Spring 2023. We warmly welcome you to join us in this effort! The theme of our 2023 zine is home, inspired by themes and questions raised by Robin Wall Kimmerer in Braiding Sweetgrass. We invite you to submit your creations — fictional, visual, poetic, or otherwise! — inspired by this theme.
- Our next Story Circle on March 31st will offer space for working on zine submissions together! You’ll have the option to make a collage or work on your own during this time. RSVP to storycircle@350seattle.org.
Join Our Community
- Story Circles gather on the final Friday of each month. We tend to be more online during the winter and in-person during the summer when we can meet outdoors!
- Join the Story Circle email list here. (Hit “subscribe” on the left.)
- Explore our community-built Resources & Opportunities file.
Zines
- We are working on another zine for 2023! Read submission guidelines here. We are so excited to see what you all create this year.
- In early 2022, We made a zine! We invited people to explore the elements through the themes of balance and imbalance. Many thanks to the more than 25 people involved in this project! You can read the digital copy of Elemental here.
